With literally dozens of dive sites, Blue Reef dive guides will show you a variety of species and topography. There are fewer divers at this pristine southern section of the barrier reef. Typically the sites are wall dives that is interspersed with spur and groove sections and sand channels.

South Water Caye Marine Reserve is a protected area with incredible tropical reef diving. Divers often sight big schools of eagle rays, turtles, nurse sharks, moray eels and an array of colourful tropical species.
Help us hunt and spear the invasive lionfish! Reef ecosystems are delicate, with many different species that have evolved to coexist; invasive species like the lionfish can damage the reef while eating local species. Lionfish has no natural predators in Belize and is quite happy feeding on the indigenous fish species. It is down to divers to keep the population under control by hunting and spearing lionfish. And, it’s a ton of fun!
One positive thing about lionfish is that after removing their spines, they are safe to eat and delicious with their slight buttery flavour. The best way to deal with this new invader is to get them from the sea to the plate. The chefs at Blue Reef Island will prepare delicious lionfish ceviche, crudo or fingers.
